Benefits Counseling

FITE CIL works with consumers to educate them about the government benefits they are eligible for, such as the new Medicare Prescription Drug Benefit (Part D). Our goal is to ensure that individual consumers receive the benefits to which they are entitled under existing programs.

Circuit Breaker Assistance
The Illinois Department on Aging's Circuit Breaker program provides grants to senior citizens and persons with disabilities to help them reduce the impact of taxes and prescription medications on their lives. When the costs of property taxes and prescription medicines begin to "overload" our seniors and persons with disabilities, this program steps in to help, just as a circuit breaker prevents overloads in an electrical system.

One of our FITECIL Independent Living Coordinators is available to assist you with filing your Application Form IL-1363. This year you can start filing for Circuit Breaker in mid February.
