News and Events

The entire FITE CIL staff attended the responsible budget coalition rally, along with 6 of our volunteers. We were there to educate legislators for HB174, a measure that would address our funding issues.

FITECIL Protest MarchWe made the front page in our local Courier Newspaper. We had over 50 people in our March and we picked up a few along the way. We ended the March at Representative Farnham's Office. He voted against the tax increase and for the budget cuts.
We also challenged the poll he sponsored. He asked people if they would support a tax increase. Of course, people will say no. Unfortunately he based his decision to not support a tax increase on this information. We provided information from the Governor’s Tax Advisory Counsel and a petition of over 100 names, disabled and non disabled, that stated that they would support a tax increase if it meant community based services would not be cut.

It's the first advocacy of this type we have done in the last 10 years. I am so proud o
f our people and the support we received. We can honestly say that we have lived up to our name, FITE.
